Right Time wins but Jordan more impressed by Screaming Plum

"It was a tremendous run, he carried 58.5kg, raced three deep and looks like a real quality horse of the future."

It is not often a winning trainer lauds his opposition but that was the comment, by trainer Paul Jordan after Right Time prevailed over Screaming Plum by a neck in the Westspeed Handicap (1000m) - and Jordan's comments were about the second horse, not his own.

Stacks On finished a fighting third.

The first three gallopers have all been consistent gallopers in their short careers.

The 2kg claim by apprentice Ryan Hill brought Right Time's weight down to 56kg and that probably made the difference.

Certainly Jordan said post-race that his charge wouldn't have won at equal weights prompting course interviewer Marty Young to quip, "you want Screaming Plum do you?"

Steered back to Right Time, Jordan has no grandiose plans for his three year old gelding. "He hit the line well after being used up early. He also charged the gate and missed the kick."

Right Time has 2 wins, 2 seconds and 2 thirds from 8 starts .
