Our partners in the Oratorio x Scala’s Quest unraced two year old are following closely the deeds of his older brother Properantes, whose recent efforts has shown he is a quality galloper with a big future.
Properantes record stands at 8 starts for 4 wins, included the Listed Raconteur Stakes and 3 places. He has won $191,250 in prize money and bonuses.
We were able to secure his half-brother before he kicked off this current racing campaign, which has seen him step up and win the Listed Raconteur Stakes and two other races.
The partners in this two year old raced Coventry To Rio. When we decided to retire her, I called upon OZ Racing’s good friends Gray and Jan Williamson of Mungrup Stud to see if we could do a contra deal for one of their yearlings. I picked this colt out as the one we wanted and our trainer Neville Parker went down to Mungrup Stud to view him and several others. Neville reported back that he too thought we should take the Oratorio x Scala’s Quest colt.
The deal was struck and as it turns out we have secured a bargain. If our colt was for sale today he would sell for double the value we did the deal at.
Now this doesn’t mean he can run – but it is nice to know we might have a chance.
